Assurant Health has been around since 1892. Assurant’s various subsidiaries provide health insurance for more than one million members across the nation. The company was one of the first to offer health savings accounts and remains one of the top sellers of this product.
Assurant employs almost 3,000 workers in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin headquarters and operations offices in Minnesota, Idaho and Florida and various sales offices nationwide. In addition, more than 200,000 agents provide local services.

Various Plans and Products Offered
Individual Health Plans offered by Assurant Health include:
- Network: These plans allow you to choose your own provider within a very large network of physicians and hospitals. The providers' negotiated, reduced rates enable lower premiums, deductibles and co-payments for members.
- Traditional: These plans are especially suited if you live outside a network area and allow for absolute freedom in choosing a doctor or hospital of your choice without any sort of penalty.
- Health Savings Accounts: HSAs are made up of a federally qualified high deductible plan and are tax-sheltered. This costs less in premium than a conventional plan and covers the cost of bills that go over the deductible.
Assurant also offers a variety of plans for small employers that include health savings accounts and health reimbursement arrangements.
Assurant's short term medical plans are great for those between jobs, those waiting for group coverage from their employer, those workers laid off or on strike, recent college graduates, seasonal employees and early retirees who are waiting for their Medicare benefits to begin. Coverage is provided for anywhere between 30 and 365 days.
Assurant also provides plans particularly suited for undergraduate and graduate college single students who: are no longer covered under their parents' health plans, who live outside their parents' HMO or PPO area, and those who are thinking about a college-sponsored plan.
